What is Krisp?

Krisp (Krisp.ai) is a real-time productivity and audio processing application founded in 2017 by Davit Baghdasaryan and Artavazd Minasyan. The tool became one of the most successful solutions for remote workers and companies during the global transition to work from home, standing out for using deep neural networks to remove unwanted background noise (barking dogs, construction, keyboard typing) and third-party voices from the microphone and speaker signal during videoconferences.

How it works

Krisp is installed locally on the computer (Windows or macOS) and works as a virtual hardware bridge: it creates a virtual microphone and speaker in the operating system. When opening a videoconferencing software (like Zoom or Google Meet), the user selects "Krisp Microphone" in the audio settings. When the user speaks, Krisp's artificial intelligence — executed locally and privately on the computer's CPU — analyzes the sound waves instantly, isolates the speaker's main voice, and surgically erases any other background sound before sending the clean audio to the call.
