What is Leonardo Motion?

Leonardo Motion (Generative Motion) is a generative artificial intelligence tool integrated into the popular image creation platform Leonardo.ai in late 2023. The tool allows users to transform any static 2D image (whether generated inside Leonardo or uploaded from their computer) into short animated video clips, automatically calculating camera movements and character/landscape animations.

How it works

The user selects an image from their personal gallery or uploads a photo. By clicking the "Generate Motion Video" option, the user configures the Motion Strength (a scale from 1 to 10 that defines how much the elements in the image should move or transform). The platform's AI models analyze the image composition, identify objects and backgrounds, and render a 3 to 4-second video, adding coherent motions (such as wind blowing in the trees, flowing water, or camera pans/zooms) while maintaining visual consistency with the original photo.
