What is Lex Writing?

Lex (Lex.page) is a modern word processor and writing editor founded in 2022 by Nathan Baschez, originally created as an internal newsletter publishing project for the Every platform. Focused on removing the distractions of traditional word processors (such as Google Docs or Word), Lex stands out for having a high-speed, contextually aware AI assistant natively integrated into the typing cursor, acting as a direct brainstorming partner on the screen.

How it works

Lex operates in an extremely minimalist black and white web interface. As the user writes their essay, blog article, or newsletter, they can trigger the artificial intelligence at any time using quick keyboard shortcuts. For example, by typing three plus signs in a row (+++), the AI analyzes the entire context of the text written above the cursor and intelligently writes the next sentences or paragraphs. Additionally, the user can select any sentence to ask for tone corrections, simplifications, or open the Ask Lex side panel to interact with a chatbot that knows the document's content.
